this is my wealth

I caught myself feeling a prick of discontentment today over something trivial, and in that moment I was reminded of three things: these pictures of a beautiful afternoon spent visiting with friends and breathing in the warm Florida air; a quote from Anne of Green Gables; and something my pastor said when we were studying Ecclesiastes.

“You know something, Diana? We are rich. We have sixteen years to our credit, and we both have wonderful imaginations. We should be as happy as queens.”  - Anne Shirley

I have nineteen years to my credit, a vivid imagination, and a deep-rooted enthusiasm for preserving and appreciating beautiful moments. I am privileged to be best friends with a wonderful man of God. I have two parents, two brothers, and two sisters that I love very much—not to mention two beautiful horses and five kitties. I have so many loving friends here in Florida and back home in Washington, plus the best roommate ever. I have a job, a good education, and so many more opportunities and adventures ahead of me than I could ever have hoped for. I have a relationship with the Everlasting God. Which leads me to what Pastor Randy said a few weeks ago.

“Add up everything you have that money cannot buy and death cannot steal, and that is your wealth.”

I am very rich indeed.
