happy new year

It’s been nothing but cold and gray here since our Christmas snow—typical of January in Goldendale. Only once or twice has the temperature even climbed above freezing—and the above pictures are from one of our few sightings of blue sky. The weather coupled with the dreaded end of Christmas break has created a bit of a cloud over things, as I mentally prepare to say lots of goodbyes, spend a day in airports and airplanes, turn nineteen, and pour myself back into school and work away from my family. It’s all déjà vu of mid-August, right before I started my year at GCBI—the weird sense of being stuck between a rock and a hard place, wanting to stop the passage of time and enjoy being at home but also wanting time to move faster so I can actually get started again on my purpose for this school year. It’ll be better once I get back into the swing of things, but in the meantime, the path looks rather long and steep!

  1. having to say good-by again is why I am {slightly} dreading my brother coming home in a few weeks. I am so excited, but then I remember that I'll have to say good-by just a few short days later, and it takes a little of the excitement away...
I guess it will be a good lesson in treasuring the time I do have. :)

Lovely photos, as usual, Hallie. You are defiantly my very favorite photographer {ever}.
