in loving memory

Lenny B.

Lenny B. passed away on August 3, 2010, after a brave fight against a painful back injury. He was eleven years old.

He was born May 9, 1999, to Junebug C. of Goldendale, joining four brothers and sisters. At the age of 2 months he moved to live with Hallie Jo and her family. They were best friends.

Lenny was deeply loving but fiercely territorial. He enjoyed hunting birds and mice, exploring new places, sleeping on the couch in the winter, and having his neck rubbed. His family appreciated his excellent mousing capabilities and his sweet nature. He loved to spend time just sitting with Hallie and following her around.

Lenny is preceded in death by his grandmother, Bukky C., and his dear friends, Cyrus, Lucy, and Ellie B. He is survived by his mother Junebug, his best friend Hallie and her family, his housemate Oscar B., and his favorite archenemy Blockhouse Kitty. The whereabouts of his siblings are unknown.

There are few things in life more heartwarming than to be welcomed by a cat.

A catless writer is almost inconceivable.  It's a perverse taste, really, since it would be easier to write with a herd of buffalo in the room than even one cat; they make nests in the notes and bite the end of the pen and walk on the typewriter keys.
~Barbara Holland

There are two means of refuge from the misery of life - music and cats.
~Albert Schweitzer

A cat can be trusted to purr when she is pleased, which is more than can be said for human beings.
~William Ralph Inge

Lenny, I'm going to miss you so much. Wait for me at the gates, and we'll go in together, okay?
