wednesday

Bloggers really seem to have fun with Wednesdays. So many link-ups and photo challenges occur here, in the smack-dab middle of the week, on the day with the weird name. I always have to mentally sound it out when I spell it, because nobody (that I know of) really says Wed-nes-day. It’s more like Wendsday. Kinda like February is usually said Febuary. Right?

Anyway. I decided to join in on some of the fun, if for no other reason than to give myself a blog topic. :)

First off: Lovely Photo Wednesday at Aspire.
Music
I thought this sheet music looked cool… it’s a Keith Green song that my brothers and sister like to play. :)

Next, the weekly Little Somethings photo challenge. This week’s theme is “little.”

And finally— “what I’m loving” Wednesday at littledaisymay.blogspot.com. I think this is kind of cool because it puts me in a positive mindset, thinking about things that I am happy about instead of things to stress about.

I’m loving that I have finished my 4 hideous British Literature 205 finals! I even kept my grade a shade over 100% in the class. Now I’m free!!!
Books2
I’m loving that I can now run 3.1 miles.

I’m loving the awesomeness of seeing my brother’s mechanical engineering graduation this weekend AND spending a few days at my best friend’s house!!!!

I’m loving the view from our living room window. I think I fall in love with it over again every time I see it:

three little kittens

Lizzy’s kittens are now officially three weeks old, and getting cuter by the day! Lizzy has taken to keeping them in the living room rather than the utility room, so we see a lot more of them, and they’re getting a lot more practice walking all over the place. :)

The most amazing thing is how they grow. When I took their preliminary portraits, their ears were just little teeny bumps, but they’re already getting bigger and more defined.

Excellent posing done by Spotty and Ewok (with a minor argument toward the end):

Ah, sisters. In the words of Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest, “Women only call each other sisters if they’ve called each other a lot of other things first.” The same must be true of cats.

They’re still pretty clumsy, but it’s hilarious to watch them try to play with each other and with their own shadows. They try to coordinate all the batting/pouncing motions, but aren’t very good at it yet!

Cute little beasties….

I couldn’t think of any Bible verses that really correlate with kittens, so here’s an abrupt change of subject for this week’s Scripture and a Snapshot:

I am so happy that the world is green again.

roadkill

Okay, so not an appealing title… but I bet it  got your attention, didn’t it? Here’s a chill for your spine:

Vulture

When super-ugly turkey vultures are circling, it means something is dead. I couldn’t resist taking advantage of a marmot that someone hit within a mile of my house to get some authentic wildlife (maybe I should say wild-death) shots.

Vulture2Vulture3

About half a dozen vultures were drawn in by the marmot corpse, and my presence disturbed them into flight. All but one, that is.

Vulture8

He was mostly oblivious to me, but I took caution anyway to step forward only when he was busy yanking something out of the body. (Is this getting too gory yet?)

Meanwhile, the less courageous birds used the interval to dry their wings, which had been lightly sprinkled on:

Vulture4

I really wish I could have gotten a closer shot of them! One little noise, though, and the whole flock launched into the sky.

Vulture7

Alright, alright. I’m done. But I really couldn’t resist—the pictures turned out way better than I expected. Here’s a nice, happy, springy picture to settle your stomachs now:

So tell me… can you appreciate my strange subject matter? Or did I completely destroy everyone’s confidence in me?? :)
