You’re all probably tired of my exultation in my kittens, but I can’t resist posting some more (new!) pictures. Most of these are of Jane, the fluffy, sweet one who’s destined to be a pretty big cat from the looks of her. (Her tail is several inches longer than Lizzy’s, and she is MUCH heavier!)
When they’re let out of the utility room in the morning for free roam of the house, their energy is almost inexhaustible. Of course the first place they head is to the Christmas tree to gnaw on gift wrapping, hide in forts built of Christmas presents, and attack ornaments. We always have to unplug the lights for fear that they’ll chew through the wire!
The best way to funnel this energy AWAY from the fragile objects is to send them outdoors to play in the snow and strategize for attacking the twenty-something quail under my bird feeder. After an hour or two of that, they come in and actually spend some time relaxing. Such were the circumstances when I captured these pictures of Jane, who was finally sitting still!
On Christmas morning, Lizzy stayed away from the packages (very smart kitty—many of them came from homes that have dogs), playing with a stray peanut shell on the hardwood floor, but Jane was fascinated with all the wrapping paper:
But I couldn’t possibly post this without a little space devoted to the other kitties, even if it is titled “Jane.”
Though Lizzy doesn’t hold as still, it wouldn’t be a kitty photo shoot without her.
Even King Oscar showed up for a quick portrait.
He continues to rule our house with great dignity, treating Jane and Lizzy as his subjects, but I think it’s all a charade which he hopes will prolong a reign quickly being usurped by two small, spoiled princesses. :)
